Science and technology is advancing at an ever-increasing pace.
Smartphones have enabled us to do many things that were considered a dream a decade ago. Life and business are becoming faster and faster, and we are living in a world where we can take on new challenges. However,
once a person becomes disabled due to an accident or an illness, we are reminded of the difficulty of living life as usual.
We established this award with the idea that by applying evolving science and technology to the field of welfare and by supporting engineers in this field, we can ultimately create a society where people do not have to be aware of their disabilities.
I hope that this award will help those who are engaged in research and development around the world.
