TWIICE

About the Team

Team TWIICE participated in the Living Assistance Robot Award 2021.
TWIICE is a team based in Switzerland. In 2015, they began developing a modular exoskeleton as a walking aid, easily adaptable to the morphology of the pilot.

TWIICE allows pilots to sit, walk, and regain their daily lives. The robot has an adjustable height, which can range from 150 to 180 cm and its weight is about 15 kg. It can walk at a maximum speed of 1.6 km/h. The robot can be controlled through a special crutch handle with buttons. While walking, the pilot manage his/her balance with the same crutches. The mechanical design of the structure is based on a commitment to simplicity that ensures the tool’s robustness, reliability, and lightness.

Pilot - Martin Loos & Silke Pan

Martin Loos is paralyzed in both lower limbs due to sixth thoracic vertebrae damage. Silke Pan is also paralyzed in both lower limbs due to damage to the tenth thoracic vertebrae. They both usually live in wheelchairs and practiced a lot for this award. In the award event, they both attempted tasks 1 to 6.
