TWIICE

About the Team

Team TWIICE returned to the Global Innovation Challenge after approximately four years, following their participation in the Assistive Robot Award 2021.
TWIICE is a Switzerland-based team that has been developing a modular walking-assist exoskeleton since 2015, designed to easily adapt to the physical characteristics of each pilot.
By using TWIICE, pilots are able to sit, stand, and walk, enabling them to regain aspects of daily life.
The robot used in the competition is suitable for pilots with a height range of 150 cm to 180 cm, weighs approximately 15 kg, and has a maximum walking speed of 1.6 km/h.
The robot is controlled using buttons mounted on a cane.
Since balance during walking is controlled by the pilot, a cane is used as a walking aid.
The technical design of TWIICE is based on a philosophy that emphasizes simplicity to achieve robustness, reliability, and lightweight construction.

Pilot - Silke Pan

Ms. Silke has paralysis in both lower limbs due to an injury to the tenth thoracic vertebra and normally lives her daily life using a wheelchair.
This marked her first challenge in approximately four years since the 2021 Award.
Despite unexpected circumstances that limited the available practice time, she successfully completed the task with an outstanding performance.
